1997 Repeated?

1997 Repeated?

Election time is possibly the only time that all politicians collectively show any interest in the rest of the population!
In 1997 "new Labour" won a landslide election result, why?
Was it that their policies outweighed those of their opponents?
Was it events that would require a new and radical direction for the UK?
I ask these questions because apart from the financial crisis we appear to be in the same position as in 1997.
Electorate outrage at the Conservatives fiddling and corruption, and their inability to control themselves or their public duties.
In party fighting, divisions, ministers refusing to be accountable or answerable for their actions, in both their public or private lives.
Does this ring a bell?
Exchange the name, and position of the two parties and, we the electorate are back in the same position as in 1997!
It won't be the policies or personalities that will decide this election.
Voter apathy and, disgust at the current govt. just as in 1997 will decide the next.
There is a small hope that several individual people are indicating that they will stand against some current MP's.
Let's hope that many of these are successful, they would bring a refreshing breath of clean air into UK politics.
The two party alternative has been our lot for decades, it really does need to be broken.
For too long this institution has been a place where its members have ignored the wishes of those they should be heeding, us the British public!
The parties and individual MP's have been cosying up to each other far too much. Hence the expenses scandal, no one " rocked the boat".
