Maladroit

After 12 years of denials, lies,and spin at last a senior Labour cabinet minister, Alan Johnson, has come clean!
Using the word maladroit (Oxford dictionary bungling ; tactless ) to describe his parties handling of the immigration issue.
Does this mean that the left wing of his party will now accuse him of being a racist/fascist.
Because for years now this is what they have branded anyone making such a statement, as being one.
